Celebrating another year

Most people hate birthdays, especially as you get older. I love them! It's your only day where your 15 minutes of fame is 24 hours of fame, in my case I like to celebrate all month long. I also find it as an excuse to buy something for myself. Hey it's my birthday present to me!

My birthday was last Tuesday (9/23) and my mom's was Sunday (9/28). We combined both birthday's and celebrated Saturday evening. We went to a local restaurant and celebrated hibachi style. The food there is awesome! Samantha and I had our favorite sushi plate the 'Rock and Roll' and then we shared a hibachi plate with Hector. They serve a lot of food, three people can eat out of one plate. The presentation is something to see!

I got some great birthday gifts. Some printing cartridges from some of my scrapping friends, money, a gift card from Best Buy and Hobby Lobby, and a scrap day at one of the local scrapbook stores. I went solo to scrap yesterday (9/28). It wasn't as much fun scrapping by myself, but I got a lot done. I even got a compliment on my friend Amanda's gift that I was working on. I think I am going to even try and become a featured artist...free product, free product!

Until another year comes by - my 24 hours of fame has subsided.

Circle Journal Sneak Peek

A circle journal - What is that you say? Well if you heard of a round robin letter its the same thing, however with a circle journal you pick a theme send it to your scrapping friends to create a themed page around your journal.

This is our third round amongst my scrapping friends and there are usually 8-10 people who play. The first year my theme was music-past, present, and future. The players had to create a song that best described that part of their life or life to come. Last year the theme was a Girl Thang. I asked each of the players to create a page for Samantha and since she is such a girly girl I asked them to glam it up! This year its all about my favorites. What is most important in my life, things I like to do, and things I think I can't live without, but I really can. The first picture represents those things I consider my favorites. The second picture is our sign in page and each girl has to write a little something on their tag. The third picture is a sneak peak into one of my favorite items. For all my non-scrapping friends, next time your over ask to look at one of my books. These girls do an awesome job!

The final picture is from last years round. My friend Kareena her theme was show me your Happy Place. As all of you know I make my yearly trek to Round Top at least once every year, if not twice. Round Top is like a junk collectors heaven and if your not a collector its a great place to people watch. It's also Texas Longhorn country, so why would it not be my happy place. My second happy place the asphalt pounding on my feet. I know a lot of you are probably thinking is she crazy. Her happy place is running. Yes it is! It's my quiet time to myself and my friend the IPod. I do a lot of thinking and its great exercise too!

The Classics Rock

Tuesday evening (9/09) me and my family went to see The Eagles in concert at Toyota Center. Awesome as always! They are such a classic band with great presentation and harmonies.

Glenn Frey opened up by saying that this was the "Assisted Living Tour for the band that never dies." I have to admit that even I felt like a youngster in the crowd of fans and Samantha well her comment was "gosh their sure are a lot of old people here, I think I may be the youngest." Then I had to remind her that Glenn, Don, Timothy, and Joe were as old as her grandparents, so yes it will be an older crowd. Joe Walsh is such an awesome guitarist! I told Samantha wouldn't it be cool to have a grandpa like that who can blare a guitar with such emotion (he really gets into his music).

They opened with songs from their new CD 'Long Road Out of Eden', then came on strong with the classics. When Hotel California was played the crowd went crazy including me. The music takes you back to the time when you first heard it. I was probably about Samantha's age at that time 10-11 yrs old. I remember getting that album for Christmas and playing it over and over again hanging out with my cousins and playing or version of 'Rock Band' with fake mics, guitars, drums, and pianos. Don Henley was my inspiration for wanting to be the first female rock band drummer. The dream never came true, but I'm not dead yet!

So, if you want to enjoy real music pick up a classic and let it take you back to a time when.....
