Card Candy

What is card candy? Well in simple form, it's creating embellishments from your own designs to put on homemade cards or scrapbook layouts.

I participated in a card candy swap with a couple of my scrapping friends. I used a cook out stamp set and another food stamp. I found it fitting to use this set to kick off the summer of grilling and outdoor eating. I even used this set to create a decorative plate when I went to paint pottery on Saturday with a neighbor. I will use the plate for many outdoor parties and grilling to come. I will post the plate creation once I pick it up.

I should have used the weekend to create, because I have a lot of swaps to complete. I did enjoy the time with family!

What cute little girls!

I had the opportunity to take pictures of two beautiful little girls recently. They are daughters of my friend Kareena. Alice is the oldest and in the dance uniform. Kareena decided it would be nicer to have outdoorsy photos taken instead of the dance company's portrait studio. Little Ms. Joely came along for the ride, but she was too cute not to grab a couple of shots of her. She challenged me, but I eventually won her over.

I love referrals, so please remember me. On to edit more pictures.

Blogger OVERLOAD

I haven't blogged in a while and it's time to play quick catch up.

My photography business has picked up, mostly for family and friends, but just another notch to add to my portfolio. I just need to add a wedding, quinceaƱera, and senior portraits to my list. I have made a little money too and that is always a good thing.

Planning for my Summer retreat in August. Wrapping up on finalizing everything and I should be posting the details on my
retreat blog site soon.

Okay I can honestly say the last month I have locked myself up in my art room and worked on some creative ideas. Even made money on some of them. At least I am living up to two resolutions on my New Years list:

  • Indulge more into my art and creating
  • Use my creative skills to make money

In between the chaos of it all, the division of Clear Channel I work for decided to close down our offices. Hind site, we knew it was coming...it was just a hard blow. I guess you can consider me one of the lucky one's, although I would think otherwise, because I still have my job. Only seven of us remained and corporate will be moving us over to our radio division in about 2-3 weeks. I lost a lot of co-workers that were good friends and hopefully when all the economic mess blows through, they will come out with great opportunities from this layoff.

Meanwhile, I'll keep creating and I promise to come back and blog soon. Check out what I have been doing below.

Teacher Appreciation Creations

If you have a child in school then you probably know this week is Teacher's Appreciation Week. It's really a week of thanking your child's teacher for putting up with your child for the year. Having taught an hour of catechism classes on Wednesday nights, I personally think the teachers deserve a whole lot more.

I hosted a Teacher Appreciation swap and me and some of my scrapping friends created items that the teachers could use now and through the summer. My mini baskets are filled with a tube of sunscreen. I then created a collection of all the swap items and made a basket for each of Samantha's teachers. The baskets included: lotion, a keepsake jar, hand sanitizer, a water bottle, writing composition book, and flower seed pack.

I also created candy bouquets, which I sold to co-workers and friends for their children to give their teachers.

Creative Snippets

I created a photo puzzle box for a friend of mine. I painted a wooden box and she emailed me pictures that I cut into 2x2 pieces and glued on wooden blocks. I then embellished the box and pictures.
It was a fun to do and easy to make!

ATC (Artist Trading Cards) swap that I participated in on Splitcoaststampers site.

Emerson's photo shoot

My neighbor's daughter - Emerson. I did the pictures for her birth announcements. I did the maternity pictures too. Refer to previous post from February.
