Creative Bucket

I made this craft bucket for a friend. She participated in one of my scrapbook challenges, which I hold on a scrapbook site I host.

I took me forever to come up with a clever idea. I did not want to just send her scrapbook products. I finally decided to alter a plain rubbermaid plastic box that she could use at crops or scrapbook events. I painted the ugly blue box, decoupaged some craft embellishements on the front of the lid, punched holes in the side to add a beaded handle, and added some initials. It only took me 3 months to get it to her.

She also won the May challenge. I'm cooking up another creative idea now! Hopefully she will get it in her hands next month.

Another photo shoot

If you are one of my FaceBook friends then you probably have already seen these pictures.

Several weeks ago, when my niece was in town from Florida, I took her, my other niece Bianca, and Samantha to take pictures around the Richmond/Rosenberg area.

It's not often that they get together, so I have to capture those moments when they are together. The last time Vanessa was visiting was two years ago.

The day was hot and humid, I probably should have gone later in the day, but overall I loved the outcome of the photo shoot. We even got kicked out of Wild West. I guess I will not be able to use that place for shoots anymore!

Circle Journal Creations

A group of scrapbook friends and I, that met via the internet, started a circle journal round about three years ago.

The third round is about to be completed within the next month or so. My topical themes have been:
  • Songs Past, Present, and Future. Me and the girls had to pick a song that best explained our lives past, present, and future and you had to explain why you chose those songs.
  • It's a Girl Thang. I had the girls in the group create a page for my daughter which I put in a keepsake box. The theme was all about girly things and sayings. It even had a color scheme: black and pink.
  • This year's round is about 10 Favorite Things. I listed ten of my favorite things and asked the girls to scrapbook a page about that item. They also had to tell me what their favorite 10 things were.

There have been some great topics among the girls scrapping. I have enjoyed creating a page for all of them too! The pages I created above were for Amy and Lori.

  • Amy's was about traditional family desserts. We had to create a page with a picture and write why it was our favorite dessert. I loved her acrylic book, my next book may have to be acrylic.
  • Lori's theme was When I was 20 I wish I knew... We had to list things we wish we had known in our 20's.

Not sure if there will be another round, but if we do I already have a theme in mind.

Great artist and wonderful personality!

  • Take a class from Tim Holtz - done
  • Take a class from Donna Downey - done

Two things I had on my bucket list which I have accomplished.

On Saturday, July 11th I took the trek to Webster to take a class from Donna Downey @ Scrapbook Junkie. The class was scheduled for five hours. I thought what the heck were we going to do for that long. Well, the class could have gone longer and we still would not have had enough time.

The class was about fabric scrapbooking. It was an AWESOME class and I am so glad I had the opportunity to take it. I love learning new ways of scrapbooking and mixed mediums and this totally fulfilled both of my passions - scrapbooking & art.

There were quite a few scrappers there, but I also meet a lot of local artists. It was fun talking and getting some ideas from individuals that find the fun in art like I do!
